Hayden Panettiere has broken her silence about her dad's arrest for spousal assault, saying it was "blown way out of proportion."

Alan Panettiere - who was arrested and charged with domestic violence on August 10 - allegedly struck his wife Lesley, Hayden's mother, "two or three times" in the face during an argument, but Hayden claims it was nothing serious.

Hayden, 19, said: "It was blown way out of proportion by a sheriff who wanted his 15 minutes of fame. My family is wonderful and so very happy, we're all great."

At the time of the arrest, Steve Whitmore, a spokesperson for the West Hollywood Sheriff's Department, said: "Anytime there is a domestic allegation, the victim is offered an emergency protection order, basically a restraining order. She declined it. She also declined medical treatment. The victim did have visible injuries and we also believe alcohol was involved. That will be part of the investigation."

Alan and Lesley put on a united front after he was released from custody, 10 hours after his arrest. The argument between them was said to have started after they had been at a charity benefit at Eva Longoria's Los Angeles restaurant Beso.

The pair reportedly argued because Alan was upset that Lesley had been getting too close to another man at the party.

No official word, however, whether Kathy Griffin will come aboard to present for the award show.

There was a slew of Emmy presenters announced Thursday, including Hayden Panettiere (the cheerleader on Heroes), who's had a busy month with the fight between her parents two weeks ago that led to the arrest of her father.

The list of newly announced presenters include: America Ferrera (Ugly Betty), Laurence Fishburne (soon to take over for Gil Grissom on CSI), Jennifer Love Hewitt, William Petersen (whom Fishburne is replacing on CSI) and Vanessa Williams (who also is on Ugly Betty).

These stars add to an already impressive list of Emmy presenters, which includes: Marcia Cross, Dana Delany, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria Parker, Nicollette Sheridan, Hugh Laurie, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

The awards will air on Sept. 21 on FOX.

Also in funnier news, Hayden had to stop her mother selling her underwear on the internet. The actress has been raising money for Save the Whales by auctioning off her belongings through her website Panettiere's Closet.
But some embarrassing items almost ended up on the site. The 18-year-old explains, "You acquire a lot of stuff so I decided to put it on the website. Mom pulled out some embarrassing stuff, but I'm like, 'Just don't pull out my underwear'."
