...Hayden Panettiere's is the hottest as the series kicks off long-awaited third season... Within the first minute of the return of Heroes tonight, you'll see Hayden Panettiere in a tight, sexy leather outfit.
Yowza!
Of course, the 19-year-old Panettiere's heretofore wholesome character in Heroes, cheerleader Claire Bennet, has a father who might not approve of her sultry wardrobe.
So does Clare's dad HRG -- an acronym for Horn Rimmed Glasses -- ever get to see Clare in leather?
"Let's just say that to date, no, he does not see her in that leather getup," said Jack Coleman, who plays HRG. "I almost had a heart attack anyway and I'm not even her father."
And if Coleman actually were Panettiere's father?
"Oh my God, when she's 35 she can wear that," Coleman said. "Any younger than that, she'll be grounded."
Many fans of Heroes certainly opined that the second season of the sci-fi drama, which was truncated due to the writers' strike, should have been grounded altogether. But as the third season begins this evening on Global and NBC, cautious optimism is afoot.
"Being off the air for almost a year, while it certainly has its inherent risks, I think in this case it can really work to our benefit," Coleman said. "I think there's going to be a tremendous curiosity as to how the show comes back."
NBC has turned the return of Heroes into a three-hour extravaganza tonight, with a one-hour setup show -- there will be old clips, and the cast will take viewers behind the scenes of the show and inside a private premiere party in Hollywood -- followed by back-to-back new episodes. While Global is simulcasting the back-to-back new episodes of Heroes, it is not airing the setup show, opting for an episode of Prison Break instead.
It definitely is hard to remember where Heroes left off, but the good news is, that won't wreck it for you tonight, even if you choose to bypass the setup show on NBC. The debut episode gets right into the action with the major characters, and you won't have any trouble following it.
"It's going to be a big, big night," Coleman said. "By the time it ends, no one will have forgotten where we are in the story."
