Meanwhile, Miss Panettiere is readying for the debut of her recently filmed gig “Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy” – which will premiere on Lifetime February 21. Talking about the role during a recent interview, Hayden said, “It’s difficult to play a character when you don’t know what the truth is. You can never have any of those underlying thoughts or emotions.”Having to base her portrayal of Knox off of video rather than first-hand observation, the 21-year-old said prior to shooting the made for TV movie, ”I wish (I could meet her). I know the Italian government is being pretty protective of her, her lawyers are being protective of her, which is pretty understandable. It’s something I would like to do, but I’d be more surprised if it happened than if it didn’t.”

TONS of new photos of Hayden, including additions of her at the boxing match last week, candids at last and shopping in west hollywood.. and even some personal candids! head over to the gallery! In other BIG film news, the parents of murdered student Meredith Kercher face fresh anguish after it was announced their daughter’s death is to be turned into a Hollywood film. Hayden has been chosen to play convicted murderer Amanda Knox. The 21-year-old star is the first casting announced for The Amanda Knox Story, which is due to be filmed next year. The Hollywood version of the murder of Miss Kercher, from Couldson, South London, will focus on events leading up to the November 2007 killing and subsequent trial of “Foxy Knoxy”. Kercher was found with her throat slashed after prosecutors said she refused to take part in a sex game with Knox and her boyfriend in Perugia, Italy. Knox, 23, is serving a 26-year sentence after being convicted of the murder last year. Her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito was jailed for 25 years and friend Rudy Guede was sentenced to 30 years for their parts in the killing. Knox, an exchange student, has maintained her innocence and many in the US believe she was the victim of a miscarriage of justice. US Senator Maria Cantwell, from Knox’s home state of Washington, criticised the guilty verdict after an 11 month trial. Ms Cantwell claimed it raised “serious questions about the Italian justice system and whether anti-Americanism tainted this trial”. Producers of the film, which is being made for TV, said the Knox story was perfect for a movie as it featured an all-American girl at the centre of a murder involving sex and drugs. Several books have been written about the murder and her parents have appeared on US TV to proclaim their daughter’s innocence. The screenplay is being written by Wendy Battles who has penned scripts for CSI New York and the crime show Law and Order. Panettiere won numerous awards for her portrayal of cheerleader Claire Bennet in the sci-fi series Heroes. She is currently filming Scream 4 with former Friends star Courtney Cox.
